{"id":6707,"date":"2012-03-12T01:03:01","date_gmt":"2012-03-12T08:03:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/svapm.org\/?p=6707"},"modified":"2011-07-31T15:04:25","modified_gmt":"2011-07-31T22:04:25","slug":"turn-the-hour-glass-upside-down-to-create-more-time%e2%80%a6","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/svapm.org\/?p=6707","title":{"rendered":"Turn the hour glass upside down to create more time\u2026.."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/svapm.org\/turn-the-hour-glass-upside-down-to-create-more-time%e2%80%a6\/hourglass\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-7061\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-7061\" src=\"https:\/\/svapm.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/hourglass-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>Many of us feel overloaded and overwhelmed with aggressive schedules and never-ending todo tasks.\u00a0 Often we wish for more time, or more hours in a day.\u00a0 What we don\u2019t often realize is that it\u2019s sometimes as easy as turning the hour glass upside down; emphasis on the phrase is \u201cupside down\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><strong> Making the familiar seem unfamiliar.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The best way to excite creativity and innovation is to turn things upside down.\u00a0 Making the familiar, everyday things seem unfamiliar leads us to alternatives that we wouldn\u2019t normally consider.\u00a0\u00a0 For instance, if you were designing a home and said you wanted a \u201cdoor\u201d here \u2013 the designer might offer you various doors made of various materials like wood or metal.\u00a0 But if you called the same structure \u201ca passageway\u201d, you might open up the design discussion to various archways, tunnels, corridors, walkways, curtains, gates, in addition to doors.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Consider using this creative approach for time management as well.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For instance:\u00a0 The hear the familiar story that <em>I have too much stuff to do.\u00a0 I\u2019m being pulled in too many directions.\u00a0 I am overwhelmed.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A different way to approach the same circumstances is: <em>I am very wealthy and prosperous in interesting activities.\u00a0 How do I want to manage and play with my wealth?<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Rewording this way opens up to alternatives not previously acknowledged.\u00a0\u00a0 For instance, how do wealthy billionaires manage their prosperity?<\/p>\n<p>Billionaires might:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>delegate to their VPs and managers<\/li>\n<li>consolidate certain funds and diversify others<\/li>\n<li>release their low-yield assets<\/li>\n<li>attract and collaborate with like-minded followers and supporters<\/li>\n<li>pay, swap and barter with others to handle items that are tedious to them<\/li>\n<li>surround themselves with experts<\/li>\n<li>change the way they think about things<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You can use these same strategies to manage your time.\u00a0 Take a page from the billionaires.\u00a0 Even if you feel it needs to be done, you don\u2019t need to be the one doing it.\u00a0 Delegating, mentoring, coaching and getting advice from experts are great ways to save time and be more productive.<\/p>\n<p>The saying \u201cthere is more than one way to skin a cat\u201d is another way of looking at this.\u00a0 Sometimes we focus on just ONE WAY to do something.\u00a0 Including others, bartering, swapping tasks, setting up accountability partners are various ways to share your wealth on these things.\u00a0 Sharing the tasks and chores with spouse, children, neighbors, classmates, (at times even clients) not only reduces the time but adds some fun as well.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Many of us feel overloaded and overwhelmed with aggressive schedules and never-ending todo tasks.
