Responsibilities:\u00a0 Understand the different roles and responsibilities of all involved in project management<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Who is the Executive Leader for the PMO and the project management approach?<\/li>\n<li>Who are the Executive Champions for each project?<\/li>\n<li>Who are the Project Leaders for each project?<\/li>\n<li>Who are the Project Managers for each project?<\/li>\n<li>Who resides in the central PMO?<\/li>\n<li>Are there business and operating liaisons connected to the PMO?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Tools:\u00a0 Provide both Executive reporting tools and tools\/methods to manage the projects<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Focus on the priority projects only<\/li>\n<li>Provide Executive Reporting tools that provide accountability, visibility, and rapid decision-making.\u00a0 Make sure they tie-in to the project reporting tools<\/li>\n<li>Provide Project Reporting tools that help manage the project, provide simple roll-up reporting, and identify critical risks and dependencies.\u00a0 They must all be simple and not time-consuming<\/li>\n<li>Build the overall Project Management approach from the lessons learned as you assess your environment and business needs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Project Start-up<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Be clear about requirements for priority projects and why practices are necessary<\/li>\n<li>Be sure to have Executive Owners, Project Managers and Core Team members named, as well as project goal, start\/end date, and a clear description of proposed results for successful launch of individual projects<\/li>\n<li>Provide training and support to project managers and teams<\/li>\n<li>Provide opportunities to raise and resolve issues quickly<\/li>\n<li>Provide an \u201cHonest Broker\u201d role for Executives and project teams<\/li>\n<li>Provide facilitation, consultant and other services, as needed<\/li>\n<li>Be prepared to provide \u201cproject rescue\u201d services<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Priorities:\u00a0 Require Executive decision-making to prioritize the project agenda<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Executive leadership must develop and approve the total priority project agenda<\/li>\n<li>A start-up PMO can successfully about 20-30 initiatives (depending upon project size)<\/li>\n<li>Create a Gatekeeper process on determining what is a priority project<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Post-launch Activities:\u00a0 Provide post-PMO launch services and activities that add value<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide regular Project Management meetings<\/li>\n<li>Provide regular project tracking and reporting to Executives<\/li>\n<li>Launch periodic emails news from the central PMO<\/li>\n<li>Provide key milestone and deliverable tracking:\u00a0 Show progress, celebrate wins!<\/li>\n<li>Offer ongoing Project Management training (to all stakeholders)<\/li>\n<li>Promote project success stories;
