{"id":12271,"date":"2013-10-11T01:11:39","date_gmt":"2013-10-11T08:11:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/svapm.org\/?p=12271"},"modified":"2013-08-31T07:55:22","modified_gmt":"2013-08-31T14:55:22","slug":"constantly-re-inventing-oneself-is-one-way-to-way-to-stay-relevant","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/svapm.org\/?p=12271","title":{"rendered":"Constantly Re-inventing oneself is one way to way to stay relevant."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Rece<a href=\"https:\/\/svapm.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/jt.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-12743\" style=\"margin-left: 15px;margin-right: 15px\" alt=\"jt\" src=\"https:\/\/svapm.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/jt-150x150.jpg\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>ntly Justine Timberlake toured the talk-show circuit to promote his new 20\/20 Experience (part 1) CD. \u00a0I don\u2019t know much about Justine Timberlake, but have learned a few things since he started his promotion tour.\u00a0 This was his first CD in 7 years.\u00a0 Along with writing and performing his own music, he has been busy making movies, starting a clothing line, doing various TV appearances and hosting various music event, co-owns three restaurants, etc.<\/p>\n<p>With this minimum information, it seems to me that Justine Timberlake is constantly re-inventing himself; is well blended; and is future focused.\u00a0 His professional and personal life seems passionate, diverse and deliberate.\u00a0 Whether people interacted with him on Start-Search, The New Mickey Mouse Club, N-Sync, promoting his various albums, working on his various movies and outside interests \u2013 most describe him as a perfectionist that doesn\u2019t seem to work hard at it.\u00a0 One person described him as \u201cOne take Timberlake\u201d because he seems to do things perfectly and easily the first time. He also draws influences from various other artists on his different albums like:\u00a0 Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder (on his Justified album); David Bowie and Prince on FutureSex\/LoveSounds, and other various artists.<\/p>\n<p>So what are some things we can learn from JT:<\/p>\n<p>1)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Be open to various coaches and influences that you connect with.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Look for people that are where you really want to be, and investigate mentor or coaching opportunities.<\/li>\n<li>Select several mentors for different attributes.\u00a0 One person will not be a perfect coach for all your desires.\u00a0 Select on mentor to help your with marketing and promoting yourself; select another for your financial goals; select another for your technical expertise, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>2)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Constantly look for the \u2018next opportunity\u2019.\u00a0 And it doesn\u2019t necessarily have to be in your professed field.\u00a0 Justin opened himself not only to movies, but clothing lines and restaurants.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>In our case, take a look at adjacent roles and positions \u2013 as well as the jobs exactly in our defined field.<\/li>\n<li>For instance, if you are a programmer, look at positions in the testing fields, technical support manager positions, business analysts, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>3)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Share your wealth.\u00a0 Like most successful people, Justin focuses his charitable efforts in many directions from the Justin Timberlake Shriners\u2019 Hospitals for Children Open (celebrity golf events), Wildlife Warriors (for animals), and various music foundations and music education programs in his hometown of Memphis, TN.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>We often do not have the same amount of funds to our disposal as most celebrities do, but we can volunteer our time and attention to our favorite causes.<\/li>\n<li>Select an organization that can promote you forward as well.\u00a0 For instance, if you are a web designer, volunteer to create websites and web pages for your favorite causes help both you and the organization.<\/li>\n<li>Surround yourself with the people you want to work with.\u00a0 If you want to promote yourself as Project Manager Extraordinaire for the elite and millionaires, volunteer to facilitate a high-profile charity retreat or function that they are known to engage.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>4)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Pursue other things during breaks and hiatus. \u00a0During a hiatus with N-Sync, he created his own music and album.\u00a0 During a short break in touring, he did movies, etc.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>When you are in a gap (for example between jobs), take classes; \u00a0volunteer for other organizations; consult for other people, etc.<\/li>\n<li>If you have a comfortable 8-5 job, use your leisure time to learn a new craft or start a new endeavor.<\/li>\n<li>If you are currently working 80 hours at your current job, work on your time and project management to get it down to a reasonable level &#8212; so that you have the space to expand.<\/li>\n<li>Often times you need to let go of the &#8220;good&#8221; to allow the &#8220;great&#8221; to emerge.\u00a0 Start making the space for the great.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>5)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Don\u2019t forget where you came from.\u00a0 Memphis, TN is often a home base for Justin\u2019s tours and charitable focus.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Add family and community to your imperative list.\u00a0 Schedule time in your calendar for\u00a0 your family and community.<\/li>\n<li>Integrate and blend community projects into your organization or company.<\/li>\n<li>Find a way to interpret your company&#8217;s mission statement to include community awareness.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>And I guess the most important is to not take oneself too seriously.\u00a0 We are all human and will have our inevitable speed bumps along the way.
